Gmail Dark Mode and Email Signatures
Some users may notice that email signatures look different when Gmail Dark Mode is enabled. Text colors, logos, and other design elements may appear differently than they do in Light Mode.
This behavior is generally related to how Gmail renders emails in Dark Mode and is not controlled by Signite.
Gmail Dark Mode Limitations
Google currently provides a single signature configuration and does not support separate signature versions for Light Mode and Dark Mode.
As a result, Signite deploys the same signature to all users, while Gmail may automatically adjust certain colors based on the display mode being used.
Recommended Approach
If Dark Mode compatibility is important for your organization, we recommend:
- Using logo colors that work well on both light and dark backgrounds.
- Avoiding designs that depend on a specific background color.
- Using neutral and readable text colors where possible.
It is also important to keep in mind that email signatures are primarily intended for recipients. While a sender may be composing emails in Dark Mode, recipients may view the same message using different devices, email clients, and display settings. For that reason, signatures are generally designed for broad compatibility rather than a specific display mode.
